smoking crack

well i am back to hitting the pipe; crackpipe that is.  i got a lil leak on the white wagon so i decided to replace some parts.  and when i get a chance to take more pics hopefully do a lil write up so to speak.  those of you who have a 12v VR6 and i think maybe even the 24v VR6 (theirs is a lil better from what i have heard)  the "crack pipe" is a common and serious problem that can leave you stranded beside the road if she goes.  the crack pipe is a major cooling passage way that runs from the back of the water pump to the timing chain side of the motor.  it is the main passage way for water to get to the rest of your VR6 and oil cooler.  so when she goes you are out of water in a matter of min's.  and it got the name of "crack pipe" cause it always cracks cause it is plastic and brittle.  the most common crack is where the oil cooler hose hooks into the pipe.  you can litteraly touch the thing and it will snap off.  so she is one wicked dingo stole your baby here folks.  to get to it you have to pull your secondary air pump (no fun at all)  which is why i usually buy the block off plate and do this at the same time.  you can do it with out pulling the pump (the pump is usually sagging down in the wary) but trust me it is way more fun.  the pipe is real simple to swap out after that. you remove the coolant housing on the timing chain side of the motor and the oil cooler hose that conects to the crack pipe (good reason for pulling the air pump, cause the nipple will sometimes stay in the hose cause it just cracked off in there for no damn reason just now)  I LOVE THAT NIPPLE.  then the crack pipe just slides right on out of the back of the water pump.  the coolant housing is the only real thing holding the crack pipe in location.  no clamps bolts or do-dads here.  so hope this lil rant helps some of ya.  now for pics.
OOH SO SHINNY  you can see the brass barb on the side that the oil cooler conects to, and the drain plug for the system


replacing this bad boy just cause its old and i have a new thermastat also.

im better than AAA in some cases.  if you ever need help that is what we are here for so you don't get ass raped by the stealership or bubba jay who don't know shit about our cars.
