General consensusOk... been thinking about this for a while now and I just thought that I would get some opinions... Keep in mind $, timing, and preventative nightmares....Should I go with.... 1. VR6 swap 2. Turbo setup 3. Supercharger setup I found a couple engines on eBay, but they're out in CA and I'm not paying for that kind of freight. Not unless T wants to go back home and pick it up for me while visiting. So what ya guys think? |

I have that vr6 motor I'llbe selling kinda cheap - if we don't end up using it for a project car or something... vr6 with a turbo would be cool, but be prepped for some major tuning work... for the SC, I'd imagine that fitting the blower in the little beetle bay might need some trimming of the body... although it would be cool to have a snorkle coming out from the passenger side of the car ;) |

s/c vr6 is hard in a bettle cause of the room the charger takes up. but it can be done. a turbo vr would be best. you are looking at around 2500 or so in parts for a turbo setup you build yourself. and if you go stand alone the tuning gets alot easier. if you get a donar car (best way to go) things get easier with wiring and programing. you can do well with a vr that has a chip. | ||

ya if u had another car it would be alot easier for the bettle to get setup. but if u want power then get rid of that 8v and pick up marks 12v and either supercharge it or turbo | ||

Been thinking about that as well.... that's an option with Mark's motor. |

there are alot of shells out there with harness and electrical and no drivetrain. a good place to start. | ||

I would think the easiest of those three would be a supercharger setup for your current engine. I haven't heard many complaints on the Neuspeed kit. the supercharger is a good set up. but it is so slow compared to the other options. if you want to keep the cost down redo your botttom end and port the head then turbo. | ||

whats wrong with 8v. you can get some real power out of them. if you put in a bigger motor you have to change mounts, trans, axles for sure in a bettle, wheel hubs, brakes, loose powersteering (no room in bug), and not too mention the sc or turbo a big one for a vr6. | ||

I'd say either swap for the VR or turbo the 2.0.
